Katy Perry flew to space, before flying right back into the internet’s roast oven. She clearly hadn't learnt her lesson from the backlash received in regards to musically reuniting with alleged rapist, Dr Luke. And the gag is that, her latest album wasn't even great to take such a colossal risk. She now hopes people will positively talk about the opening night of her "Lifetimes" tour, and inspire others to actually buy tickets for her lukewarm-selling Stateside dates.
Following her controversial, all-female trip to space recently, and making history as the first pop star to do so, Perry kicked off the tour at CDMX Arena in Mexico City, last night. The sci-fi themed visual spectacle, would see the 40-year-old play a video game character, who faces off against evil forces, while performing a career-spanning showcase of past hits. These included, ‘California Gurls,’ ‘Teenage Dream,’ and ‘Roar,’ to ‘Dark Horse,’ and ‘E.T.’ She also performed songs from her latest album ‘143,’ which included ‘Woman’s World,’ ‘Lifetimes,’ and ‘I’m His, He’s Mine.’
After playing over 80 dates across the globe, the tour wraps December 7th, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 16 years ago, Katy Perry was relevant, but today, she appears to be very out of touch. The decision to go to space, and make such a public spectacle, because she is trying to regain that relevancy, was a massive farce on behalf of her PR team. Perry hasn't had a good album since "Prism," and she really needs to put the focus back into that.
