Jennifer Lopez sued for not paying to use copyrighted photos

The cost of living crisis is showing no signs of letting up. People are struggling to feed their families, and the global economy is at an all time low! Photographers make their money by taking photos of celebrities, and getting them to pay for copyright, if they want to use them. A celeb doesn't own the copyright to photos just because they're in them. Jennifer Lopez knows this, all too well. She was sued almost a decade ago, for posting images of herself without paying. She is one of the most photographed women in the world, and photographers work hard.

Lopez is being sued for posting photos of herself, without permission. She is seen arriving at the Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair Party in Los Angeles. Her appearances happened the night before this year's Golden Globes. Photographer Edwin Blanco and Backgrid, the agency he was working for, have each filed lawsuits saying they own the copyright to both photos. They argue that the pictures were used "to promote" Ms Lopez's public appearances, boost user engagement, increase shareability, and lend credibility to her branded content. They're asking for up to $150K per photo!

It clearly grates on her that they are literally using her image, to make money. But this isn't some restaurant, where she is known to snatch back tips from underpaid, hard working staff. Photographers automatically retains the copyright of any photograph they take, whether she likes it or not!
