Cheryl Tweedy becomes administrator for the £24m estate of Liam Payne

Liam Payne died extremely young, and rich. But he also lived life on the edge. Despite having so much money, and immediate access to the the best lawyers and financial advisers, the 31-year-old failed to sort out a will.

The One Direction singer, sadly passed away in October last year after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. According to court documents, Payne, left behind a fortune worth over £24m and died without a will. His total fortune was over £28m, which was later reduced after his expenses and debts were paid.

Dead or alive, rich people's debts don't go away, but £28m (though nothing to scoff at), seems incredibly low for someone who was part of the world's biggest boy band 15 years ago.

Artists who are manufactured from talent shows rarely get good deals, and Simon Cowell gets the bigger percentage from their pay. Payne was smart, as he co-wrote (alongside Louis Tomlinson), the majority of the band's songs in their later years. And Bear will definitely benefit from those royalties. As for the inheritance, it is only right the money is put into a trust fund for his future. That said, no amount of money will relieve the pain of losing a parent at such a young age.
