If something or someone is going to dim your light, the best thing YOU can do for YOU, is to get far away as possible from that situation.
While Ashanti has always acknowledged Irv Gotti largely impacted her career, he has not been very respectful in the last 20 years. In fact, he spent that last 20 years very bitter, hateful and angry. He couldn't get over that the woman he "made," broke free to do her own thing. It reeks of controlling behaviour, and narcissism. It's like saying, "yeah I own you, so your loyalty should stay with me forever. You're not allowed to venture out on your own," and men like that are the worst kind.
Her biggest mistake was having an intimate relationship with him, but she was young, and very career driven. If he were still alive today, he'd still be smearing her name online. With his passing, it seemed she was free from that... until his brother decided to carry on.
The “Let’s Keep it 100 Podcast” this week, saw Chris Gotti call it crazy that Ashanti acts like Murder Inc, and his brother Irv Gotti, didn’t "make" her who she is. Ashanti knows who helped her achieve major success. If she hadn't, she would not have tributed Irv Gotti on social media, or attended his funeral.
