If you grew up in the 90's like I did, Val Kilmer would have been a staple of your childhood. Every kid growing up in the 90’s knew who he was. He was an incredible actor who starred in some straight classics. Batman Forever, Top Gun, At First Sight, The Doors, Willow, Tombstone, Heat... I can go on.
While Keaton was THEE Batman of all Batmans, Val Kilmer did a great job in that movie. Actually, he was quite underrated in that role and did his best when having to deal with quite an underwhelming script. He was the exact same age as my mom but I'm not afraid to say he was quite the heart throb in his prime and I harboured such a crush on him during the 90's.
At just 65-years-old, Val passed away yesterday (April 1st) in Los Angeles. He was battling pneumonia, his daughter Mercedes told The New York Times. Mercedes also adds that he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, and later beat it. His health struggles ultimately led to his exit from Hollywood, after making his mark in the industry.
I am glad they were able to bring him back for Top Gun Maverick in 2022 because that was one of the nicest sendoffs Hollywood could ever give him. Prayers to his family, and loved ones.
