Beyoncé is still not a vocalist, says Trick Daddy, while doubling down on past statements

Trick Daddy's recent claim on a podcast that Beyoncé "can barely sing," echoes a 2021 controversy, where he faced backlash for similar remarks on Clubhouse, highlighting a persistent debate about her vocal prowess.

Taking to the latest episode of Nene Leakes‘ podcast, he states, “I love Beyoncé. She’s very talented, and, I don’t know if nobody else can entertain and perform the way she does. In my defense, I don’t consider Beyoncé a vocalist. I know what a vocalist is. I’m a Whitney Houston fan.”

He further elaborated, “There’s a difference between ‘singing’ and ‘sanging.' And if you can’t go to the church and make an old lady stand up and damn near knock off her wig, you can’t sing to me.”

Beyoncé utilizes a variety of vocal techniques and performance strategies. These include flexing her powerful chest voice, as well as the strategic use of a backing track, which allows her to deliver strong vocals while engaging in physically demanding choreography. Not many female artists are delivering this type of showmanship.

A few weeks ago, Lipstick on Ice, published a video, in which, Cynthia Erivo applauds Beyoncé, for being "one of the most skilled vocalists of our time!"
